TRUE TYPE FONT: SARAH SCRAWLS
I created a font based on my own handwriting. I actually have a few different styles of handwriting, which friends always used to call my ‘fonts’. This is the first one to become an actual font.
I made a mockup logo to see how it might look in a real project. I also probably shouldn’t let this font fall into the hands of my daughter, otherwise I might end up with a situation like the sick-note pictured…
Font creation is a fairly new skill for me, but I plan to make many more. I think it’ll open a world of possibilities. If you can’t find a font you like, just make your own!
LONG-sERVICE CERTIFICATE
I was asked by Caritas Australia’s HR Department to design a service certificate for a long-term member of staff. Caritas has a fantastic database of images, which I trawled to select this image of children living in a squatter settlement in Fiji. I wanted to add a special touch, so I created a shiny medallion graphic in Photoshop, using the Caritas Australia logo.
This certificate was framed and presented to the member of staff on the event of his 20 years of service.
EOFY Receipt
I designed an End of Financial Year (EOFY) receipt for Caritas Australia’s Regular Donors (this is the template, so no personal details can be seen!).
TWO SOLDIERS BANNER
I created a banner and logo for my personal blog about fighting breast cancer. I wanted to give a nod to the traditional colour of breast cancer - pink - while still retaining some of my personal taste for all things retro, so I created a gradient of retro pink tones. I used Adobe Illustrator to live trace found images of soldiers, tweaking them until they were unrecognisable from the original, and playing some more to achieve a style that I liked.
