ABOUT
Hi, I’m Sarah. I’ve been drawing and writing stories since I was a kid. A lot of people give up on all that after a time, but I never really stopped. I’ve even managed to make a career out of it.
I’m a Jack of All Trades when it comes to creative work: apart from design and copywriting, I’m also a creative writer, editor, illustrator and dabble in the visual arts.
My professional life so far has been mainly in communications and marketing, so I know how to harness my somewhat left-field imagination to create effective campaigns, with sales and good communication techniques in mind.
design outside the box
I approach all projects with as much lateral thinking as possible. This means that although of course I notice what’s trending, I prefer to ‘twist’ the trend, reworking it into something original.
Avoiding trends might not always be possible depending on the client and what they want, but in general I believe that if you want to stand out, you have to be unique, not copy what everybody else is doing.
DESIGN FOR GOOD
I like to use my creative skills in service of ‘the good’: charities, NGOs, small businesses, the arts, organisations working towards the betterment of the world (or just providing essential services, like education and healthcare).
Maybe if some company with mega-bucks and no conscience came along and offered me millions to create something for them, I might crack under the temptation of their oversized wallets, but in all likelihood, I’d think twice. If I don’t believe in what a company is doing or saying, I couldn’t work with them and feel at ease with myself at the same time.
